Speak by: Laurie Halson Anderson #2

The way that I can describe my character at the end of the book is that she is able to talk again since everybody in her school knows that the most popular boy in school raped somebody within school grounds. After, Mel's best friend finds out what happened she tells Mel to call her. After the incident everybody in the school apologizes to Mel since they treated her rather unfairly becuase, of what she did which she had a right to do since she rapd by Andy Evans. She is able to compose her old outer character which happy and carefree and able to talk most importantly.
Mel, finally relizes that she can't keep quiet for the rest of her life. Sh has to speak out for her own sake. The person that helped her achieve this was her new friend Heather but then she left her for the Martha's but then in her art class Ivy her newly recruited friend that had turned her back aginst her did most of the work and helped Mel come out of her tiny shell leading her little step by little.
The awareness that Mel steps into adulthod is that you can not keep quiet for the rest of your life. Someday sooner or later you will have to speak out. The responsibilities that Mel gets when she enters adulthood is that she has to have self-protection. Because, sooner or later people might have your back anymore. In the future you must defend and protect yourself from any threats that may come your way. Don't let any threats or insults get you down.
The author is trying to say about childhood almost as if that it's a tiny seed that it's still taken care of but then, it will still have to still grow up sooner or later either they like it or not. The author's real meaning from my point of view is that when your small as a child every takes care of you to cherish and purify you. But there will always be a time when kids will have to grow up and set out into the world alone.
The author is trying to say about adulthood is that adulthood is a time when people have to depend on themselves in the future. When your an adult you have to protect yourself. You speak out let others help you when your in times in need or distress.

Speak by: Laurie Halse Anderson #1

The way that I would describe my character in the beginning is that she is certainly quiet. She talks to herself in her own mind. Very shy self-conscious and doesnt really want to talk to other people. It's as if that she's in this tiny box or either this tiny seed just waiting to sprout and blossom into a beautiful flower.Wants to escape to a quiet space where she can be by herself. With no one judging her or either anyone talking about her behind her back.
The conflicts that Mel faces is that after she calls the cops on her last day of school party. She is blamed for her actions. Which I think is very unfair but, also I'm a little dissapointed that Mel didn't speak up saying that she was raped by the most ppular boy in her school.Andy Evans. But, when I think about it right now I think Mel had a point of not telling anyone about what had happened bevause, he's popular and she's not. Everybody would think that she was lying so that she could just blame it on someone else and to lift the burden off of her shoulders just like Atlas. And, she doesn't.
The people that play a big part in my character's life is her friend Heatheer who is very active and cheerful. Her parents that encourage her but, in a scary type of way.

Percy Jackson: The Last Olympian by: Rick Riordan

The last and final book of Percy Jackson is when the titan lord Kronos arises and with his band of monsters and unclaimed demigods(half-bloods) they march to New York and from there on he will take over the whole entire world. But, there standing in their way is Percy Jackson and his very own band of demigods determined to stop Kronos and his evil plans from getting too out-of-control. Also, there is Percy's friend Thalia who's a hunter under the goddess Artemis and also her fellow hunters also determined to stop Kronos. Before the battle or in other words the war Percy had to bathe in the River of Styx where he will become unvulnerable to any attcks against him just like Kronos had done as well to arise again and set his evil plans in motion.
Then there's Typhon the monster that the gods had sealed away many deccades ago hoping for him to not break the seal. But, Kronos went to Typhon and set him free from his improsonment for so long. After, Typhon is released he slowly makes his way to destroying Olympus because, of what the gods had done to him. While, this is all happening Poseidon is fighting his very own battle under the sea against the titan lord Oceanus. Without, Poseidon's help all the other gods and goddess's up on Olympus fighting hoping to slow Typhon down and with no luck are struggling to fight Typhon back to where he was improsoned for so long. I have to say the Typhon must have had been very pissed when the gods sealed him away. Probably when Typhon was sealed away his anger was building more and more by the time. At the tie down in Manhattan Percy and his army are fighting with all their might against Kronos. While, Kronos and Percy and his friends race to Mount Olympus. Kronos beats them to it. And, he starts to destroy the temples of the greek gods and goddess. Then there Luke wakes up again since, Kronos is only borrowing his body he makes a final choice and kills himself. Since, the titan Lord Kronos is with him. He is once again sent back to Tartarus. Improsoned there again for who knows how long he will stay there.

Boys are Dogs by: Leslie Margolis

This book is about a girl named Annabelle. She and her mom moves into their new humongous house with her mom's new boyfriend Ted. His nickname for Annabelle is Dweeble. As I was saying they move in with Dweeble. When Annabelle gets a pet dog she's half thrilled and half upset because, she really wanted a basketball hoop. Then there's Anabelle's new school. You see Anabelle attends a all-girls elementary school. So, there is boys in the school with her as well and she is not used to that.
As a new welcoming gift her mom and Dweeble get her a dog. A kind of dog that likes to chew up her clothes. Well, at least the puppy comes with a leash and a training manual! On Anabelle's first day to her new school it's a total neightmare for her because, it's so new to her. Even worse a 8th grader tricks her and says to her that her homeroom is a 8th grade spanish class homeroom. Then to make things worse the boys in her homeroom are really mean to her since she's new at the school. The only place for her to escape all of the chaos at school and her mom and Dweeble is with her dog Pepper. Then suddenly she see's that dogs and boys have no difference between each other. Dog's are wild boy's are wild. Are they not/ ( No offense to all you boys out there.). Then the next day. When the boys are talking behind her back she uses the steps in her dog Pepper's manual and uses it on the boy's and it works! For me I was quite surprised and impressed that it actually worked! I actually wanted to see if it actually worked on my little brother and it also worked for my annoying 5-year-old brother.

My response to Romeo and Juliet

My reaction to Romeo and Juliet was just MIND-BLOWING for me!!! I mean, like serious I saw the Romeo and Juliet movie when I was in elementary school it was boring. But, this one was just like WHOA! It was amzingly good. Because, you see i'm not much of a person that likes romantic stuff alot. But, this movie after it was done I found surprisingly myself that I wanted to watch the movie over and over again and never stop!
The Romeo and Juliet movie that I watched in class had some very deep details that let me understand what the characters were really saying and also what they really meant. Since, I had studied William Shakespeare's work before. I'm really glad that Ms.Robbins had showed us the Romeo and Juliet movie or else I wouldn't have had changed my mind of romance the teensy bit. So, THANK YOU MS.ROBBINS!!!! ^^

My 3 All-Star-Mentors

Aurora, Goddess of Dawn

http://josephinewall.com/aurora.html

Just before the sun rises
there is a hush
Slowly and quietly comes Aurora, Goddess of Dawn
Her gorgeous gown following her
her wings swiftly brush against everything it touches
Awakening the trees, the birds, the leaves
Slowly she takes out her paintbrush
and her kaleidoscopic palatte
Then the brush makes its first stroke of paint
Bursts out the color of yellow
the radiant rays of the sun
Then other colors bursts out
the luminous orange, the dazzling blue, the majestic purple
the beaming green and the incandescent red
Slowly she puts away the paintbrush and palatte
and walks away
Leaving the world to awake!

I chose this post as my first mentor because it includes and has lots of details. It gives us a very clear image and perspective of what's going on and what the poem is really trying to tell us. It elaborates on each detail and sentence. It also uses big words like: incandescent, kaleidoscopic. This poem reaminds me of a painting that I saw in a museum when I was little.

I hear smacks and screams
I hear shouts of pain
I can hear the silent cries
Deep in her throat

Everything in her mind is calm
At ease
Except the congested part
Of memories from millenniums ago

I can feel the knot in her stomach
She feels twisted
And alone
I know she can read my mind

That's why I have to keep my thoughts to myself
And not share what I can see
Through those dark, shadowy eyes
Of that girl who haunts those who enter
and torture

I chose this post as my second all star mentor of the week because, it also gives us a clear image and perspective of what the poem is saying and the picture of the poem that it's relating to. It elaborates on each
sentence and detail. Of what the sentence and detail is trying say and explain to us.

The post that shadman wrote was really good. Because, it includes lots of details and perspective. His blogpost was very creative and inspiring because, he elaborates on each sentence. Also, he gives a very clear meaning on what he is really trying to tell us and the whole world around him.
