Speak by: Laurie Halson Anderson #2

The way that I can describe my character at the end of the book is that she is able to talk again since everybody in her school knows that the most popular boy in school raped somebody within school grounds. After, Mel's best friend finds out what happened she tells Mel to call her. After the incident everybody in the school apologizes to Mel since they treated her rather unfairly becuase, of what she did which she had a right to do since she rapd by Andy Evans. She is able to compose her old outer character which happy and carefree and able to talk most importantly.
Mel, finally relizes that she can't keep quiet for the rest of her life. Sh has to speak out for her own sake. The person that helped her achieve this was her new friend Heather but then she left her for the Martha's but then in her art class Ivy her newly recruited friend that had turned her back aginst her did most of the work and helped Mel come out of her tiny shell leading her little step by little.
The awareness that Mel steps into adulthod is that you can not keep quiet for the rest of your life. Someday sooner or later you will have to speak out. The responsibilities that Mel gets when she enters adulthood is that she has to have self-protection. Because, sooner or later people might have your back anymore. In the future you must defend and protect yourself from any threats that may come your way. Don't let any threats or insults get you down.
The author is trying to say about childhood almost as if that it's a tiny seed that it's still taken care of but then, it will still have to still grow up sooner or later either they like it or not. The author's real meaning from my point of view is that when your small as a child every takes care of you to cherish and purify you. But there will always be a time when kids will have to grow up and set out into the world alone.
The author is trying to say about adulthood is that adulthood is a time when people have to depend on themselves in the future. When your an adult you have to protect yourself. You speak out let others help you when your in times in need or distress.

Speak by: Laurie Halse Anderson #1

The way that I would describe my character in the beginning is that she is certainly quiet. She talks to herself in her own mind. Very shy self-conscious and doesnt really want to talk to other people. It's as if that she's in this tiny box or either this tiny seed just waiting to sprout and blossom into a beautiful flower.Wants to escape to a quiet space where she can be by herself. With no one judging her or either anyone talking about her behind her back.
The conflicts that Mel faces is that after she calls the cops on her last day of school party. She is blamed for her actions. Which I think is very unfair but, also I'm a little dissapointed that Mel didn't speak up saying that she was raped by the most ppular boy in her school.Andy Evans. But, when I think about it right now I think Mel had a point of not telling anyone about what had happened bevause, he's popular and she's not. Everybody would think that she was lying so that she could just blame it on someone else and to lift the burden off of her shoulders just like Atlas. And, she doesn't.
The people that play a big part in my character's life is her friend Heatheer who is very active and cheerful. Her parents that encourage her but, in a scary type of way.

Percy Jackson: The Last Olympian by: Rick Riordan

The last and final book of Percy Jackson is when the titan lord Kronos arises and with his band of monsters and unclaimed demigods(half-bloods) they march to New York and from there on he will take over the whole entire world. But, there standing in their way is Percy Jackson and his very own band of demigods determined to stop Kronos and his evil plans from getting too out-of-control. Also, there is Percy's friend Thalia who's a hunter under the goddess Artemis and also her fellow hunters also determined to stop Kronos. Before the battle or in other words the war Percy had to bathe in the River of Styx where he will become unvulnerable to any attcks against him just like Kronos had done as well to arise again and set his evil plans in motion.
Then there's Typhon the monster that the gods had sealed away many deccades ago hoping for him to not break the seal. But, Kronos went to Typhon and set him free from his improsonment for so long. After, Typhon is released he slowly makes his way to destroying Olympus because, of what the gods had done to him. While, this is all happening Poseidon is fighting his very own battle under the sea against the titan lord Oceanus. Without, Poseidon's help all the other gods and goddess's up on Olympus fighting hoping to slow Typhon down and with no luck are struggling to fight Typhon back to where he was improsoned for so long. I have to say the Typhon must have had been very pissed when the gods sealed him away. Probably when Typhon was sealed away his anger was building more and more by the time. At the tie down in Manhattan Percy and his army are fighting with all their might against Kronos. While, Kronos and Percy and his friends race to Mount Olympus. Kronos beats them to it. And, he starts to destroy the temples of the greek gods and goddess. Then there Luke wakes up again since, Kronos is only borrowing his body he makes a final choice and kills himself. Since, the titan Lord Kronos is with him. He is once again sent back to Tartarus. Improsoned there again for who knows how long he will stay there.

Boys are Dogs by: Leslie Margolis

This book is about a girl named Annabelle. She and her mom moves into their new humongous house with her mom's new boyfriend Ted. His nickname for Annabelle is Dweeble. As I was saying they move in with Dweeble. When Annabelle gets a pet dog she's half thrilled and half upset because, she really wanted a basketball hoop. Then there's Anabelle's new school. You see Anabelle attends a all-girls elementary school. So, there is boys in the school with her as well and she is not used to that.
As a new welcoming gift her mom and Dweeble get her a dog. A kind of dog that likes to chew up her clothes. Well, at least the puppy comes with a leash and a training manual! On Anabelle's first day to her new school it's a total neightmare for her because, it's so new to her. Even worse a 8th grader tricks her and says to her that her homeroom is a 8th grade spanish class homeroom. Then to make things worse the boys in her homeroom are really mean to her since she's new at the school. The only place for her to escape all of the chaos at school and her mom and Dweeble is with her dog Pepper. Then suddenly she see's that dogs and boys have no difference between each other. Dog's are wild boy's are wild. Are they not/ ( No offense to all you boys out there.). Then the next day. When the boys are talking behind her back she uses the steps in her dog Pepper's manual and uses it on the boy's and it works! For me I was quite surprised and impressed that it actually worked! I actually wanted to see if it actually worked on my little brother and it also worked for my annoying 5-year-old brother.

My response to Romeo and Juliet

My reaction to Romeo and Juliet was just MIND-BLOWING for me!!! I mean, like serious I saw the Romeo and Juliet movie when I was in elementary school it was boring. But, this one was just like WHOA! It was amzingly good. Because, you see i'm not much of a person that likes romantic stuff alot. But, this movie after it was done I found surprisingly myself that I wanted to watch the movie over and over again and never stop!
The Romeo and Juliet movie that I watched in class had some very deep details that let me understand what the characters were really saying and also what they really meant. Since, I had studied William Shakespeare's work before. I'm really glad that Ms.Robbins had showed us the Romeo and Juliet movie or else I wouldn't have had changed my mind of romance the teensy bit. So, THANK YOU MS.ROBBINS!!!! ^^

My 3 All-Star-Mentors

Aurora, Goddess of Dawn

http://josephinewall.com/aurora.html

Just before the sun rises
there is a hush
Slowly and quietly comes Aurora, Goddess of Dawn
Her gorgeous gown following her
her wings swiftly brush against everything it touches
Awakening the trees, the birds, the leaves
Slowly she takes out her paintbrush
and her kaleidoscopic palatte
Then the brush makes its first stroke of paint
Bursts out the color of yellow
the radiant rays of the sun
Then other colors bursts out
the luminous orange, the dazzling blue, the majestic purple
the beaming green and the incandescent red
Slowly she puts away the paintbrush and palatte
and walks away
Leaving the world to awake!

I chose this post as my first mentor because it includes and has lots of details. It gives us a very clear image and perspective of what's going on and what the poem is really trying to tell us. It elaborates on each detail and sentence. It also uses big words like: incandescent, kaleidoscopic. This poem reaminds me of a painting that I saw in a museum when I was little.

I hear smacks and screams
I hear shouts of pain
I can hear the silent cries
Deep in her throat

Everything in her mind is calm
At ease
Except the congested part
Of memories from millenniums ago

I can feel the knot in her stomach
She feels twisted
And alone
I know she can read my mind

That's why I have to keep my thoughts to myself
And not share what I can see
Through those dark, shadowy eyes
Of that girl who haunts those who enter
and torture

I chose this post as my second all star mentor of the week because, it also gives us a clear image and perspective of what the poem is saying and the picture of the poem that it's relating to. It elaborates on each
sentence and detail. Of what the sentence and detail is trying say and explain to us.

The post that shadman wrote was really good. Because, it includes lots of details and perspective. His blogpost was very creative and inspiring because, he elaborates on each sentence. Also, he gives a very clear meaning on what he is really trying to tell us and the whole world around him.

My poem to a painting

Horses wild as they run
Swift as they run
They run like the wind
They run like majestic white horses
Hard to catch
Their manes are like grass
Slowly flipping and whipping in wind
as the wild horses run to their hearts content
Their powerful legs and hooves
hit the hard ground
like thunder and lightning in a thunderstorm
Horses

My response to a poem

Fear
by Ciaran Carson

I fear the vast dimensions of eternity.
I fear the gap between the platform and the train.
I fear the onset of a murderous campaign.
1 fear the palpitations caused by too much tea.

I fear the drawn pistol of a rapparee.
I fear the books will not survive the acid rain.
I fear the ruler and the blackboard and the cane.
I fear the Jabberwock, whatever it might be.

I fear the bad decisions of a referee.
I fear the only recourse is to plead insane.
I fear the implications of a lawyer's fee.

I fear the gremlins that have colonized my brain.
I fear to read the small print of the guarantee.
And what else do I fear? Let me begin again.
My response to this poem is that I can relate to this poem in two different
ways. My first way that I could relate to this is that when I was a kid I was pretty
much a scaredy-cat. Because,I would scared of almost anything that my cousins told me that
sounded pretty much very scary to me. If I was asked to write about my fears when I was a kid.
I would have probably filled up a page and a half full of my fears.
My second way that I could relate to this poem is that I have two younger siblings that are
pretty much the same as me when I was a little kid. They believe what they see on TV and what my cousins
tell them that may seem scary to them. Their pretty much like me.
I have to agree that this poem has rhyme and rhythm. Because, the lines rhyme
every few lines. Rhythm because, every line begins with the words " I Fear".

Lionboy: The Chase By: Zizou Corder

The second book of Lionboy gets even more intense than the first book. The second book is more like a clock game or something like a bomb. Because, Charles Ashanti is running out of time. By each day Charles gets more anxious about his parents. And, each day more danger increases for Charlie and the lions. Rafi Sadler was attacked by one of the six lions. He was attacked by one of the three lionesses of the six lions on the run. And, so he was held back on his plans to capture Charlie. Which was a good thing to give Charlie and the lions more time to escape.
Charlie arrives in Venice to a hotel protected by King Boris's security guard. But, when he gets there Charlie is seperated with his lions. That, night Charlie creeps downstairs to eavesdrop on a conversation. But, during the eavesdroppping Charlie catches the word "lion.".
Soon, Charlie gets a little suspicious about the seperation with his lions. And, he gets ready to escape with his lions.Again.
                                                                                                                         To Be Continued...............

LionBoy by: Zizou Corder

So, far I have been reading the book LionBoy by: Zizou Corder. So, far from what I know in the book where I got to. It's about a boy whose name is Charlie he has an extrodinary talent. His extrodinary talent is having the ability to speak cat. Charlies parents are professors. Charlie lived a very happy life with his parents. Until, six months later.
Charlie was on his way from school. He did not see his parents or even hear them. And, so Charlie had to sadly conclude that his parents were kidnapped. Rafi a boy who did not really mind things much. Was the one that organized to kidnap Charlies parents. He tricked Charlie into going with him saying that his parents were at a business over sea. But, Charlie was clever enough to realize that Rafi was lying to him. So, early next day Charlie escaped.
I find this book very interestiing. Because, it provides lots of details on whats happens on each page. It includes animals. Which I love ALOT!!!!! When Charlies parents disapeared. The author Zizou Corder elaborated on every detail on what was happening. What I like about the author was of how she elaborated on how Charlie felt and his feelings. And how panic-stricken he felt at the disappearence of his parents. Thats how I would feel if my parents disappeared.

Harry Potter: and The Half-Blood Prince

The book Harry Potter the sixth is starting to get very in tense. Since, the Dark Lord Voldemort has risen again and starting to cause havoc with his Death Eater followers just like the past few years before he had fallen. This book is very intense because, Lord Voldemort is gaining control over the muggle world and also the wizarding world. Also, there have been various killings, including Amelia Bones and various other wizards. But, besides that Harry had suffered a terrrible loss. His godfather Sirius Black was eventually in a duel with his cousin Bellatrix Lestrange.
So far in the book Albus Dumbledore came to take Harry away for the rest of the summer to spend his time in the Burrow where one of Harry's best friend lives. Ronald Weasley a.k.a. Ron Weasley. Harry takes private lessons with Dumbledore. In those lessons Dumbledore lets aharry into his memories. And, that is where when Dumbledore gives Harry his last lesson by destroying a Horcrux.
Then Dumbledore dies at the end of the book. Which yes I know that everybody is upset about. Let us all greive for him!

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

So, far I have been reading the Harry Potter series. And, yes again! So far as much as I know from how far I read. Harry was walking with his cousin Dudley. And, just pissing Dudley off his rocker as usual. Then, when Dudley said that Harry had started to mutter in his sleep. Harry got pissed off and pointed his wand threateningly at Dudley.
Harry, thought that he was not going to use a spell on his cousin. Well, eventually that was the least that he thought. While, Harry and Dudley was still arguing. Harry, sensed two dementors were closing in on them. Well, you see Harry isn't supposed to do magic out of the school until his last year of graduating at Hogwarts. So, eventually Harry had no choice but to do magic to save himself and his cousin as well.
So, well Harry used the Patronus charm against the dementors against the dementors. After, supporting a stunned Dudley back home. Harry, gets a owl from the Ministry of Magic that he would have to go on trial due to him doing magic without magic. Also. the ministry of magic said that they had reached a decision to destroy his wand.
While, the Dursleys are out the Order of Phoenix caomes to take Harry away and put him into hiding just to keep him safe until his trial with the Ministry of Magic.

Snape, Villian Or Not?

Snape, villian or not? Hmmmmm..... Well, I would say that he was not a bad guy and or villian. Well, of course he acted like a big mean old teacher that was very unfair to the Gryffindors. But, I would of course kind of guess that he was acting on Dumbledore's orders.
Harry for hated Snape from the first day he came to Hogwarts. Harry had always thought that Snape was a Death Eater. A kind of servant. That he was a Death Eater of Voldemort. And, also that he was a spy for Voldemort. Partially, Harry is correct. Snape was a spy. BUT, a spy for Dumbledore. To spy on Voldemort. Snape was NOT a Death Eater.
Snape, had mostly played a big role in the Harry Potter Series. Because, Snape had been all this time just protect Harry. Because, he had done for Lily Potter. The reason why he was doing this was for his love for Lily. Then, eventually at the end Snape had died protecting Harry. So, this is why Snape had been a hero. Because, of eventually all the time that Snape had been "fakingly" working for Voldemort. He was working for Voldemort, as a opponent.

Harry Potter by: J.K. Rowling

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ( IF YOU HAVE NEVER READ THE Harry Potter Series!)
I absolutely love the Harry Potter by: J.K.Rowling. Because, I have to really congratulate J.K. Rowling for writing such amazing books for us kids. Because, the Harry Potter series is really magical and it's mostly about duels of witches and wizards. Specifically about the Harry Potter series is a boy named Harry Potter. Who every body keeps on saying that he was the first boy ever to survive a killing curse casted by the dark lord who every body called him you-know-who. his "sub-name" was Voldemort. But, his real name was Tom Riddle.
But, sadly Harry's parents had died. Killed by the killing curse. They had died saving their one and only Harry Potter. After, the dark lord killed the parents. The dark lord had eventually tried to kill Harry with the killing curse. But, for some reason the spell had bounded back and hit the dark lord himself. Now probably all of you people that are out there are starting to say "YAY!". But, NNNNNOOOOO  the dark lord had of course lost his body. But, his soul had eventually still survived.
So, before heading off the dark lord used his wand and marked a lightning scar on Harry's forehead. And that's how Harry became the "Boy Who Lived.".

My social connection to the world of Justice/Action/Change

My social connection to the world for this week's blog is something that has been going on for quite a long time. It's called  "Child Abuse". If you don't know what child abuse is is considered as physical such as: shaking, beating burning or even biting a child. now I guess you know what is child abuse. It's not a very good thing. Back then when child abuse was going on. Nobody knew what to do. If they witnessed it. I find child abuse as a very bad thing. Because, if a parent hits a child. Then the abused child would learn from his/her parent.Because, they had parents that had only thinking ways of hitting they can't think of any other way to reason with their own kids. If they actually did something wrong.
A parent that hits a child might think things as like little into to a big thing. Or in other words a little deal into a BIG,BIG deal over nothing. Also an parent that abuses a child might expect the child to act a lot more than their age. For example, 5-year-old kid might act in behavior as a mature young adult.

Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters

Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters is the second book of the lightning theif. And still my #1 still very favorite book. Because, it explains the next adventure/quest of Percy Jackson and his friends set on their second quest to find the golden fleece to save the tree that once guarded Camp Half-Blood. It's really important to the camp because, it sets an invisible shied that only half-bloods can go through but no monsters or furies or...... at least it's anything besides a monster can only pass the tree and enter the camp. If Percy and his friends don't find the golden fleece quickly then you probably know what happens. Then all the monsters would be able to break into camp and attack camp.

percy jackson and the olympians: the lightning theif

At first when i saw the book percy jackson I thought that it was going to be a really boring book. Because, i never really read books that I really didn't like. But, I mean like that I did see the movie and liked it.But didn't think that the book wuold be as good as the movie. But  BOY WAS WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  The book was so good and also cool! It took me by surprise at first. Then it took me on like a REALLY WILD RIDE!!!!!! Now im up to the third book of percy jackson. That's how much i leraned to never, ever judge a book by it's cover, and also learned that how powerful a book could be.
